Ed Curtis of Y Texas discusses why business is booming in Texas

Why Companies Are Moving to Texas

“Texas is the bastion of hope and entrepreneurship in America” – Ed Curtis

With a strong start into the new year, many businesses are looking for opportunities here in our home state of Texas. This week on “Let’s Go,” we deep dive what makes Texas so attractive to companies of all shapes and sizes.

Joining HireBetter’s Co-Founder, Kurt Wilkin, is Ed Curtis, Founder and CEO of YTexas, an elite business network that helps businesses relocate to Texas. Ed is a master connector, especially when it comes to Texas. The company not only helps others understand what it takes to relocate and expand in the several different markets within Texas, but also helps them with the actual process of moving.

After moving here to start his banking career decades ago, Ed realized that Texas had a special something that made it a great place to live, work, and build companies: the people! Although he had a thick New York accent, he found that he had everything in common with the Texans around him – he wanted to do the right thing. It’s that philosophy that led him to leave banking in 2013 to start YTexas.

To Ed, who is more plugged in to the underlying conditions that make Texas such a lucrative place to do business than just about anyone else, there are three key ideas that make Texas great:

  • Fear of Missing Out – Everyone is moving to here. When the people you do business with all of the sudden leave for the greener pastures of the Lone Star state, it’s not hard to see why you’d move as well! Ed hears “I don’t know what’s going on down there, but I’ve got to find out!” more than anything else when talking to prospective Texans.
  • People want to make money – There are so many companies of all shapes, sizes, and industries here that are ready and willing to play with new companies. If America is the land of opportunity, Texas is the “bastion of hope and entrepreneurship!”
  • There’s a culture and pride in Texas – People here are looking for a simple life; we want to feed our families, be around nice people, and give our kids a good education. We’re not overcomplicating things here… We focus on doing the right thing.

Those three keys are what makes Texas such a special place to live, work, and do business. In fact, while 2019 and 2020 saw tremendous growth through expansion and relocation, 2021 is on pace to double that. January of 2021 already hit 40% of the numbers we saw in 2020, and with companies like Tesla coming in hot, it’s only going up from here.

It’s easy to see why Texas is such a special place to call home. With 2021 shaping up to be a banner year for growth in our state, we are excited to be on the “Let’s Go!” rocket ship with you.
