Q: What do you do here at HireBetter?
A: Title is Sr. Director of Client Relationships, but my role is to help founders/executives of companies determine what his/her business issue or need is and a path forward. Spending the time to really listen to where the company has been, where it is now and where it wants to go then connecting them with the right resources to help them get there.
Q: Tell us a bit about your background.
A: I graduated from UT – Austin Red McCombs business school where I did the five-year integrated program in accounting and received my bachelors and master’s degree. From there I started my career at Deloitte in its audit department. My public accounting career included 14 years at Deloitte (seven of those in Dallas) and the other half in Ausitn where I helped Deloitte open its audit practice in the Austin area. My focus was high-growth entrepreneurial companies and worked on multiple IPOs throughout my career. From Deloitte I joined a regional firm as an audit partner and continued to build on my experience with start-up/high-growth Austin companies along with finding a passion for not-for-profit sector. After a 20-year career in public accounting I hung up my 10-key and joined a locally headquartered executive search firm that focused on finance and accounting. After seven years as a partner at that firm I am excited to become part of the HireBetter team to continue my professional growth working with companies throughout the country in all segments and functions. I have a passion for working with companies to help them solve their organizational needs and hear their story.
Q: What led you to HireBetter?
A: I’ve been familiar with HireBetter through the Austin marketplace for over a decade and have always respected the work done, the ethics surrounding the firm and the proven success of Kurt Wilken and his executive team. I am thrilled to be part of HB and this team.
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
A: Working with the founders/executives of a company. Hearing their story of how the company started, its growth and then helping them determine a path to where they want it to go.
Q: What do you love most about Austin?
A: I love the outdoor feel of Austin. I love that have a relaxed culture that is full of arts, music, festivals, trails to run on and lakes to boat on in the summer. From a business perspective what I love about most is that Austinites want the best for their fellow business professionals and are always willing to help each other. Austin is probably the most collaborative business environment in the country with some of the brightest and innovative as well.
Q: How do you typically spend your time when you aren’t working?
A: I love being engaged with my children and their activities. Spending quality time with them is critical to me. I also am a huge cross-fit fan and runner. I rarely miss a workout day and have run six marathons and looking forward to my next in 2023 (unsure on location just yet). I also LOVE spending time with my two black labs at the parks in Austin.
Q: What’s your favorite live concert? Favorite band?
A: I don’t know about my favorite but my first was Rick Springfield which always makes me laugh!
Q: Tell us about your favorite vacation.
A: Any vacation time with my children is always the best. Particularly as they get older. I think my favorite was our first cruise together because we were prepared for – well we weren’t sure, and it ended up being a beautiful trip including a port day in Haiti which was one of most beautiful places I’ve seen.
